About Compendium Medicine

  • Compendium Medicine offers high-quality, concise medical learning tools designed for busy students and professionals in the healthcare field.

As medical students, we felt overwhelmed by the amount of medical knowledge available. An overview was lacking. Fuelled by this need for change, we embarked on a journey that has now brought together over 500 students and doctors to create the entire Compendium Medicine book series. Our mission is to help and connect healthcare professionals globally by providing accessible knowledge..

  • We are a group of students and physicians with the mission to provide a clear and accessible overview of everything you need to know during your time as a (rotating) med student, or newly-graduated intern. In the Netherlands and Belgium, we have done this with ‘Compendium Geneeskunde’ by writing an encyclopedia using our own method. So far, we have reached over 100,000 medical students and healthcare professionals.

💡 Is Compendium right for me?

  • Short answer: yes — and here's the honest reasoning. When you buy a Compendium pocket, you're not paying for more pages. You're paying for the pages we left out. More than 500 students, doctors and specialists distilled each specialty down to the essence — the core of what you actually need to know as a doctor — and structured it the same way every time. That curation is the value: less time lost searching, less doubt about whether a source is reliable. And because every order comes with our 100% satisfaction guarantee, trying one is risk-free.

  • Free summaries and AI tools can give you an answer. They can't give you a foundation you can trust. Online summaries are usually written by a student who had the same knowledge gaps you do, and AI — however fluent — isn't validated by specialists and can be confidently wrong on clinical detail. Every Compendium pocket is reviewed by specialists in that field and written to international guidelines. AI gives you an answer; Compendium gives you the foundation to build on.

  • A few things set Compendium apart. Every specialty follows the exact same visual structure (the Compendium Method), so once you've used one pocket you instantly know where to find anything in all of them. And it sits in a deliberate middle ground: more focused than a full textbook, more reliable and structured than free notes or AI, and compact enough to keep in your coat pocket from your first rotation onward.

  • The compact size is the whole point. At 170 × 120 mm it fits in the pocket of your white coat, so the knowledge is with you on rounds, in clinic and on call — exactly when you need it. The concise format isn't a shortcut; it's the result of 500+ contributors deciding, line by line, what truly earns its place. You get the essentials, fast, without wading through a textbook.

  • Every Compendium pocket is created and reviewed by a team of students, doctors and specialists in the relevant field, and written according to international guidelines. Quality is checked at every step before a pocket goes to print, and content is updated as guidelines evolve. When specialists validate what you're reading, you can rely on it in practice — not just for an exam.

  • It depends on where you are in your journey. If you're rotating or working on a specific ward, start with the pocket for that specialty so you have the essentials in your coat pocket day to day. If you want the full picture across specialties, Compendium Plus gives you every digital pocket plus all premium features in one subscription. Not sure? Email us at contact@compendiummedicine.com.

  • Then we'll make it right. Every order comes with our 100% satisfaction guarantee: if your pocket isn't what you hoped for, email us at contact@compendiummedicine.com and we'll arrange a return or refund. Investing in a Compendium pocket should feel safe, not risky.

“Medical knowledge should not depend on where you are born. By making structured, high-quality medical content available in over 100 languages, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers in healthcare education worldwide.”
